This role sits at the intersection of Technical Product Management, Cloud Architecture, and Software Engineering – defining product scope and business model, architecting the technical solution, and building working prototypes to validate feasibility before heavier engineering investment.
Team is AT&T Emerging Products, spanning IoT, 5G, AI, and energy. Active work includes the AI Video Intelligence platform and the Smart Energy Grid Resilience opportunity; completed work includes the ITP Portal prototype and the Video Intelligence MVP.
Day to day, the role spans both upstream and hands-on: shaping product vision and roadmap with product owners and BDMs, setting architecture and technical standards for engineering delivery, and coding directly where needed – sometimes to de-risk feasibility, sometimes because resource constraints require it.
Functionally, it's the bridge between business and engineering: translating business needs into technical direction, and technical realities into business decisions.
Technical Leadership & Delivery Ownership
Lead cross-functional engineering teams, providing hands-on technical direction and unblocking delivery, including recovery of at-risk external delivery work.
Solution Architecture (Cloud & Platform)
Own platform architecture including AWS infrastructure, cost, and scalability planning, in collaboration with a cloud architect on deep AWS-specific design.
AI / Data / Integration Architecture
Co-own architecture for AI/ML and computer vision integration (code/application layer) alongside cloud architecture ownership (AWS/infra layer).
End-to-End Product Delivery (Concept to Demo/MVP)
Lead initiatives from concept through demo, POC, or MVP, coordinating product, engineering, and stakeholders.
Multi-Vertical Ownership
Operate across multiple product verticals simultaneously, owning product definition, architecture, and delivery across parallel initiatives.
Product Strategy & Vision
Shape product direction by defining vision and requirements with product owners and stakeholders, translating ambiguous needs into structured product scope.
Roadmap Definition & Planning
Define multi-phase product roadmaps with milestones, sequencing, and exit criteria aligned to business priorities and delivery feasibility.
Opportunity Identification & Market Sizing
Identify early-stage product opportunities and conduct market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM) and use case definition to support leadership evaluation.
Engineering Standards & Infrastructure
Design and implement AWS infrastructure (Terraform, EKS, RDS) and CI/CD automation for platform delivery.
Executive Communication & Technical Translation
Write and deliver executive-facing presentations, translating technical architecture and roadmap decisions into business terms; act as the working translation layer between engineering and product/AVP leadership.
Stakeholder & Partner Discovery
Conduct interviews and working sessions with internal stakeholders, customers, ISVs, and technology partners to validate use cases, requirements, and solution feasibility.
Pilot Candidate Evaluation & Prioritization
Evaluate and prioritize customers, ISVs, and technology partners for pilot programs based on strategic fit, feasibility, and product alignment.
Partner Ecosystem & Cloud Deployment Collaboration
Collaborate with ISVs and hyperscaler partners on integration and deployment, supporting the cloud architect on production readiness.
Full-Stack Prototyping & Feasibility Builds
Build production-grade prototypes across frontend, backend, and infrastructure (e.g., ITS portal, CV demo UI) to validate feasibility and accelerate delivery.
Angular Service Layer Standard
Architected a modular Angular service layer as the technical standard for the incoming Ericsson dev team.
CV Platform MVP (Connection Award)
Delivered the AI Video Intelligence platform MVP with no incremental infrastructure budget or added headcount, earning AT&T's Connection Award.
Delivery Recovery (Branch Merge)
Merged conflicting branches and resolved integration issues, turning a stalled, low-confidence delivery into an on-track platform.
ISV Partner Interviews
Evaluated 6 ISV partners through direct interviews, selecting fits and routing 2 to an adjacent vertical.
ITS Demo UI Rebuild
Rebuilt the UI for an intelligent transportation demo, replacing the prior version to meet customer-demo standards.
Market Research Tool
Built a custom internal tool to structure and manage market research, with one-click export to working documents.
Modular Monorepo Consolidation
Restructured the codebase into a modular monorepo, eliminating duplicated code across verticals and reducing setup effort for new product lines.
Platform Technical Direction
Took initiative to lead technical direction on a platform project, working with the leadership to define use cases and build a working demo UI.
Roadmap and GTM Model
Built a complete roadmap and go-to-market model, including revenue/monetization structure, ready for execution and presented to executive leadership.
Secondary Backend and RDS
Built a secondary backend and RDS integration to resolve critical delivery gaps and keep the platform on track.
TAM/SAM/SOM Market Sizing
Built a validated TAM/SAM/SOM sizing and product scope for a new computer vision/sensor fusion opportunity in AT&T's energy vertical.
Team Execution and Unblocking
Drove the team's execution to deadline through consistent technical direction and unblocking.
Terraform CI/CD Automation
Architected and deployed Terraform-based infrastructure, automating a fully manual CI/CD deployment process.
TXDOT Real-Data Demo
Delivered a real-data TXDOT demo in 1 week against a 4-week deadline, building a microservice to sync real-time data from Kinetica and RDS into the UI.
